Tropicana Juke Box: Kenny Vance and the Planotones

Do you like doo-wop?  Have you heard of Kenny Vance and the Planotones? This group is the ultimate in reproducing that street corner sound that was conceived in Brooklyn, New York back in the 1950’s.  Kenny says that he was at the Brooklyn Paramount at the age of 13 when he was blown away by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers who appeared at that famous Alan Freed show.

Kenny Vance and his group are still performing. I have heard them live many times, and there is nobody who is better.  Here they are performing “Angel Baby” from their album “Lovers Island.”   So grab your partner and slow dance to this beauty:  —PG
