Lee County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Our Inquiry

At the last Trop Homeowners Association meeting, someone inquired about crime and security in the Park.  I contacted the Sheriff’s Office and received this reply.  (some of the details have been removed since they were directed specifically to me.)

“Dr. Goldfinger,

Your email was forwarded to me for a reply.  Far from an extensive
search, but in a quick search I found crime reports taken in the first
three months.  A vandalism, a theft and a burglary to a vehicle.  There
are two resources on our public website which allows you to see research
crimes and see some of the activity performed by our deputies for
yourself and others in your community.

One is the “crime reports / crime mapping” and the other is an “incident by streets search.”

The best phone number for your residents to use on a non-emergency call
is 477-1000, however, if it’s a crime in progress, please dial 9-1-1.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance

Respectfully,

Lieutenant Larry King

Editor’s note:  If any of you are worried about security in Tropicana Park, you might consider calling Lt. Larry King. Obviously, the amount of crime in the park has been minimal, and I don’t see any mention of any break-ins or more serious matters mentioned above.  But citizens need to be alert and to call regarding suspicious activity. Small crimes can be the beginning of  big crimes.   PG
