Newby Management Distributes the Tropicana Co-op, Inc. Rules for Community Living.

We received an envelope today from Newby Management containing the new Tropicana Rules.  In a letter dated June 28, 2012, addressed to “All Tropicana Residents,” Clarice Campbell, CAM, Community Manager, stated that these “new” rules were approved by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations on June 19, 2012. She said that the rules, which were developed by the Tropican Co-op Rules Committee were pursuant to Florida Statutes 719 and 723.

Ms. Campbell summarized the “highlights of the major changes” by stating that the 55 and older provision had been re-written to say that “the minimum age for residency is 45 years of age, in addition to a requirement that one resident must be 55 or over.”  This age provision apparently also applies to guests, relatives and renters.

The other major change says that household pets (dogs and cats) are limited to two.  It also says that any pet with “vicious tendencies” are not permitted including Rottweilers, Pit Bulls or mixtures thereof.

They advise that everyone review the rules “carefully.”

If you have any questions you can contact Clarice Campbell at the Co-op office  1-239-243-0822.

  1. Editor’s Note: The age requirements related to guests, relatives, grandkids, renters, etc. were not clear. We called Clarice and asked for clarification. She was kind enough to send us a response. See her answer posted on July 5. Paul
