Lee County begins their reservation system today, Jan 4, for 5,000 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations. This is available now for those 65 and older plus front line health care workers starting Tuesday Jan 5. The program is a cooperative effort by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, the Lee County Office of Emergency Management, and the Lee County Department of Health.
You can phone to make an appointment beginning at noon today Jan4. the toll-free number is 833 618 2001. The call center will be open from noon to 8 pm today (Jan 4) and then 8 am -8 pm after that.
When reservations have been made for all the vaccine available, the phone lines will be cut off. As the county receives more vaccines, more times will be added.
This week, 1,000 will be given on Tuesday (10 am- 2 pm) and 2000 each (8 am to 4 pm) Wednesday and Thursday.
The vaccines will be administered to only those who have reservations.
There will be no long waits, no early arrivals, and no lining up the night before. You arrive no sooner than 45 minutes before your appointment. Bring water and identification. Do not stack your car along the roadway.
The location is at the old Southwest Florida International Airport terminal parking lot off Daniels and off 75. There will be traffic signs, roadside message boards, new traffic patterns and traffic control by the Sheriff Dept. which will provide security for the whole process. There is a map at Leegov

BULLETIN: At 12:30 pm 1/4/21 we learned from WINKNEWS.com that all 5000 reservations are filled for this week! The Reservation Call Center is now closed.
New reservations will open as vaccines are received by the Florida Department of Health.

Don’t forget that the Moderna vaccine requires 2 shots. The FDA is deciding if a 1/2 dose is as good as a full dose—stretch out the supply.
