Ansel Adams, Georgia O’Keeffe and many other painters and photographers loved to go to Taos, New Mexico for one particular subject: the Rancho de Taos Church.
Andrew Wyeth painted about 1,000 studies of the farmhouse at Kuerner’s, his neighbor’s property in Pennsylvania. Here is a link we posted about that subject Wyeth at Kuerners. The Wyeth article continues to interest strangers since many still visit BF to look at that piece.
Harry Callahan was famous for his nude photographs, but he photographed only one woman—–his model and muse: wife Eleanor.
My point is that artists tend to revisit sites and subjects that fascinate and inspire them.
One place that often gets my attention is the Faith Baptist Church on Wickapecko Drive in Ocean Township near the A. Park border. I drive by it almost daily, but for one year I did not photograph it because a Mercedes parked along the side of the church spoiled the inspiration. But now it is very beautiful in autumn. There is something moving about that church, and I find it as inspirational in its own way as Chartres or Notre Dame.
