OK. We do not have a winner.  The song is by Telly Sevalis  (ie Kojak).  He had a long acting career, but sometimes he sang.

This beautiful song was written by Gordon Jenkins who said that it was his favorite.  A variety of singers recorded it including Frankie Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Anthony Benedetto (Tony Bennett) and this guy below  (you all know him):
