Florida Photo Gallery: Tampa Channelside

Channelside district, Tampa, Florida.   PG photo

Tampa is a wonderful city to visit.  It is a two hour drive north from Fort Myers.  This view is of the Channelside district which is an area that was industrial in the past, mostly serving the port activities.  But now it is a vibrant place with colorful architecture and many new  condos which cater to a young professional crowd.  Everyday there are large cruise ships coming into port creating an awesome sight.  There is an aquarium there as well.    I shot this photo from the 14th floor of a new building in that area.

In 2021, this area as well as the rest of Tampa has become a mecca for those northerners  seeking to live in “the sunshine state.”  Today, prices have risen considerably.

Some of you may know of the Columbia Restaurant in Sarasota, but the original one is in Tampa, and it is a great place for Cuban food and flamenco dancing. Columbia is in Ybor City —a historic part of Tampa, not far from the scene above. Ybor is also home to a lot of bars—if that interests you.

If you have photos from around Florida, or especially in Tropicana Park or Fort Myers, send them to us via email.
